Empire Development was founded by Tony Szak on November 22, 1999. Empire started off as a metal roofing company, which moved into a framing contractor. Empire Development became a Remodeling General Contractor in 2000 and eventually added New Construction in 2004. In 2006, Empire Development won the La Crosse Area Builder's Association Parade of Homes People's Choice Award and was also named Builder of the Year. In January 2009 Empire Development LLC merged with Jones Construction to become Empire Development and Construction Inc.

Empire Development is a member of the Better Business Bureau, La Crosse Area Builder's Association, Wisconsin Builder's Association, National Home Builder's Association, Remodelers Council of Wisconsin, National Federation of Independent Business, and Business Network International.
